Game Report - Round 14 - Starlight Blues Draw to Win!

Starlight Blues have won season VIII of the Lower Sukhumvit Darts League!

Going into the final round, Cat's Meow led Starlight on games points only. Being the top two teams, a victory for each seemed likely, with Starlight needing a strong showing of at least nine-one to have a chance, if both did win. Surprises do happen though, and fifth placed Lighthouse came through to beat the Meows in their cat's lair. Starlight were also struggling, and were down five-four as the game went to the Mouse. A defeat would have left both of the top teams equal, but the Cats ahead on points, so the whole season hinged on a game of Mickey Mouse. With both teams playing against their opponents and their beer intakes, Starlight led through the game, and eventually a check from Kenny sealed the season.

Star Job were assured of third place, regardless of their draw against Starlight, and the Offshore Overboards were assured of their fourth place, even though they did lose to the Evicted Ones. The victory could not promote the Evicted Ones though, as Lighthouse's better points-difference kept them on top after their giant-killing victory.

The battle was as intense at the bottom of the table as it was at the top. Kings of the draw Silver Dollar led by one point having drawn four times, with the Dons having one draw and one victory to their account. A victory for either team would have avoided the bottom spot, while a draw would maintain their positions. A second doubles for the Dollar sealed it all though, as The Dons valiantly struggled on to take the Mouse and thereby share the points.

In the individual standings, congratulations go to Graeme, who won the individual season with 166 points. Tom only just pipped Kenny by two points, with Peter following up in fourth, only one point ahead of Johnny and three ahead of Bill. The top thirteen players reached one hundred points.

Congratulations to Season VIII winners: Starlight Blues. (Season VII winners were Cat's Meow, and Season VI Chequers' Checkers). Season IX will commence soon, following post-season-playoffs.

League Notices - Post Season Playoffs

The post-season playoffs will work as follows. All teams have been drawn for round one, and play at neutral venues, as detailed below.

Round two will see the winners play in the “cup” competition, and the losers will play in the “shield” competition. This will again be drawn, and will use the format below, so some teams may through the draw receive home advantage.

All teams will continue to play into round three, be it in a final or a third-place-playoff.

Special Rules:

	Weeks 1 and 2 are drawn. If you’re against someone you feel you can beat, then great. If not, then please don’t whinge. It’s a draw, and that’s what happens.
	No-one has home advantage, as far as scoring is concerned. If the bar doesn’t provide a scorer then share the responsibility. We are dart players, and we can do this.
	There will be a league meeting after the week 2 games, at one of the Washington Square bars. All can attend, but it would be nice if the captain or a representative of each team could attend. Please email any suggested agenda items to the normal address.
	For this to work, games cannot be drawn, so if the points are level at the end, it will be decided on legs. In the unlikely event of that also being tied, it will go by Mickey Mouse score, just so that the beer can be involved in the outcome.
	As the second round is drawn, completing games once a six-point winning margin has been achieved becomes optional.
	Feel free to agree to play doubles as 501 if you prefer.
