Oh, how quickly things
can change in the early stages! With a single mighty leap, Offshore
bounded into second place from fifth, having broken the winning run of
Cat’s Job, at Cat’s Meow. In doing this, Ray also made his own
individual mighty leap, from nowhere at all, to somewhere just above
nowhere at all, having scored his first individual point in the form of
a ton. Well done, Ray. All of this with an absent and injury stricken
squad, specifically missing Rob, and Mike with an unfortunate bowling
injury to his beer drinking arm.
With Cat’s Job beaten,
Cat’s Meow have therefore taken a clear points lead for the first time,
having remained unbeaten against The Evicted Ones at New Cowboy. The
Evicted Ones were top after the first round, second after the second,
and so on. Now standing fourth after four rounds we must hope Tom’s
boys can break this chain of events before week nine!
Texas Rangers, playing
at home at Texas Lone Star to Silver Dollar, put themselves in a
commanding position of four-one up after the first doubles, but saw this
lead slip away, having to settle eventually for the season’s first draw.
Good showings from Captain Taxi, and from Gavin, both having won their
singles, saw both of them promote themselves to individual positions
inside the top 16.
The evening’s other
encounter saw a return to the league for Andy, playing for Starlight
Blues. He made his presence felt immediately, by losing the first
singles without a leg to Graeme of ACSP. Julian continued the losing
streak in a eagerly anticipated singles match against Kenny, but these
would prove to be the only two points that ACSP would take away from the
evening’s encounter. Kenny easily did enough to keep his position at
the top of the individual table, where the same names remained in the
top ten, with only slight positional changes.
The coming week sees
Kenny’s ACSP crew journey to see top placed Cat’s Meow, and new second
placers Offshore travelling to Silver Dollar. The Evicted Ones host
Starlight Blues, and in a league packed with local derbies, Cat’s Job
travel to see old friends and former team-mates at Texas Lone Star.
