Congratulations go to Chequers’
Checkers, who have won the league with one round to go, with a 10-0
whitewash of Buffalo Rangers, despite a 180 from Ian. In a single
giant leap Offshore Overboards jumped from fifth in the table to
third, by beating Moonshine Joint 9-1, and by having more wins and a
positive game-points difference despite being tied on eight overall
points. In the other match of the night
Maximus journeyed to Buffalo Job, and left with a 7-3
victory.
Chequers’ Checkers are therefore
confirmed winners sixteen points so far, and
Maximus cannot be caught in second. Buffalo Job have also
reserved their place, but at the other end of the table! In round
ten, Buffalo Rangers will be hoping that Chequers’ Checkers can beat
Offshore Overboards and that Maximus can
beat Moonshine Joint. This would allow them, if they beat Buffalo
Job, to leapfrog the two teams above them (as Offshore Overboards
did this week) and secure third place. Both Offshore Overboards and
Moonshine Joint will however be looking for a victory, or perhaps
even a draw that can guarantee the third spot. Six players so far
have achieved over one hundred individual points, with Andy claiming
the title.
Rough plans have been made for
after-league events, although any further input of opinions and
suggestions is welcome. The plan would be to have two Saturday
nights, perhaps the 7th and 21st of June, and
on the first to have a mini team knockout competition. The second
evening would be a singles event and party open to all who wish to
compete, and would have a top-16 element to it, but would consist of
mainly party-type darts games, and some small league presentations.
