It’s still statistically possible that
Chequers’ Checkers may not win the title, but their 8-2 victory away
from home at Buffalo Job has maintained their three point lead from
Maximus, who beat Offshore Overboards 6-4 at Starlight. In the
other game of the eighth round, Gavin of Buffalo Rangers took the
individual high tally of the week (18), with his singles and two
checks in each of two doubles, giving the maximum six checks. This
gave the team five of the six points that they beat Moonshine Joint
by, meaning that they leapfrog Offshore Overboards in the standings,
pulling to only a single point behind Moonshine Joint.
And now … the end is near … Captains:
please could you all discuss with your players what you would like
to do now that this season of the league is nearly over, in terms of
a post-season competition, party, and the next running of the
league. This should be a decision by the teams, so the following
are only suggestions and information only. Some teams will wish to
join the Bangkok Darts Thursday League when it recommences, although
I’m not sure if a proposed starting date has been announced. The
Tuesday league will finish around the end of May, and will be
followed by a knockout competition. That certainly means that there
will be time for us to have a top 16 playoff, or some other
competition. Because we only had six teams and therefore a short
season, the league did not collect registration fees, so there is no
money for parties and trophies, but that doesn’t prevent us having
some sort of party, perhaps with an individual lucky draw or some
other format. Some teams have suggested that they would like to
play in this league again, and perhaps also invite other teams. It
could be possible to play on a different week-night, or it may be
possible to wait until the end of the BDL Thursday league. Please
talk about these and your own ideas, and give me feedback either
next time round or by email if you prefer.
A small inter-league competition is
also tentatively planned, although a date has not been set. This
will be between our league, and the Hua-Hin Darts League, played
over two legs, once here in Bangkok, and once in Hua-Hin. This
would most probably be a Saturday night, so one night away would be
the minimum, although of course some people would want to make a
full weekend of it. Again, please talk about it so we can have an
idea of how many would be interested.
