Half way through the season already!
The very top of the individual table is looking fixed, but its all
to play for in the team standings.
Week five saw two draws. A win for
either Moonshine Joint or Maximus would have put them up onto eight
points along with Chequers’ Checkers, but their draw must leave them
both eagerly anticipating the next two rounds as both face the
current leaders. Chequers’ Checkers themselves were at home and
took a seven point victory from Offshore Overboards. Down at the
other end of the table the two Buffalo teams played each other and
came away from the encounter with five points apiece.
Ned lost his first singles match to
Lui of Maximus who checked thirty-two twice. This extends Andy’s
lead to sixteen points at the top of the table. Things are hotting
up after the two leaders though, as Peter, Kenny and Johnny advance.
Please be warned that Songkran is on
its way! It would seem that in fact quite a lot of us run away and
hide elsewhere at this time of year, so we are going to take a two
week break, so that Round Six is unchanged on the third of April,
but Round Seven will now be played on April twenty-fourth. If you
do wish to run and hide over Songkran, there will be some activities
down south, Hua Hin way. Events will be held on the 12th,
13th and 14th, and will include petang
(petangue? French bowls, or “boules”, you know what I mean!) on the
beach, as well as darts, beach volleyball, beer-drinking, pool,
mini-golf, and beer-drinking.
